About
What SailorNotebook is
SailorNotebook is a free maritime career platform where seafarers keep certificates, sea service and documents in one ledger, generate a maritime CV and apply to shipping companies, and where shipping companies find crew and assess them with online rank exams.
Who it is for
Seafarers of every rank — deck and engine officers, ratings and cadets — who need their certificates, seaman's book, licences, medical documents and sea service in one place, with expiry dates watched and a CV that is ready whenever a company asks for it.
Shipping companies, ship managers and manning agencies that post vacancies, receive candidate CVs in a consistent format and want to test a candidate's knowledge for the rank before an interview.
What it is not
It is not a manning agency and it does not place crew: a company and a seafarer deal with each other directly. It is not a certificate issuer or a training centre, and it does not verify a document with the issuing authority — it records what you enter. It is not a social network; the community features in the mobile app are a side room, not the building.
How it is used
A seafarer creates a free account, fills the ledger section by section — personal details, passport and visas, seaman's book, certificates, licences, medical certificate, sea service, education, languages, references — and the CV composes itself from those records. From then on the work is keeping the ledger current; the CV follows.
The seafarer browses the public job board, applies to a posting, or is invited by a company; the CV is shared with a company only when the seafarer decides to send it. A company posts vacancies from its panel, reads the CVs it has received, and can assign an online knowledge test written for the candidate's rank.
The same account works on the website and in the SailorNotebook app for iPhone and Android, in English and Turkish.
What it costs
Free for seafarers. Companies use a B2B panel licence.
Who builds it
SailorNotebook is built in Türkiye by a serving Master Mariner. The equipment guides are checked by a Master Mariner before they are published, and every rank exam names the STCW competence table it is written against. The site went live in 2026; the company behind it is being formed and this page will name it when it exists.
By rank
What a seafarer of each rank gets, and how companies use the platform for that rank.
